Project Description: Design, development and operation of a large underground coal mine using continuous miner/shuttle car and longwall mining technology. The development included the construction of a coal handling plant and washery, capable of producing 3.5 million t/a of premium coking coal. At the time of installation, the longwall at North Goonyella had the widest face (270m) and highest roof supports (5.5m) in the country.
